Haleyville Center of Technology Selected CLAS Banner School!

Submitted by wbishop on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 16:21

Last week Dr. Clint Baggett Haleyville City Schools’ Superintendent and I in the company of our wives attended the CLAS Banner Luncheon in Montgomery where the Haleyville Center of Technology was recognized as a 2010 CLAS Banner school. Our center was one of only 14 schools to receive this prestigious award and the only Career and Technical center in the state.

Haleyville Center of Technology Automotive Technology Program - Haleyville City Schools: Earl Franks, CLAS Executive Director; Dr. Clint Baggett, Superintendent; Bill Bishop, Principal; First Lady Dianne Bentley; and Dr. Joe Morton, State Superintendent of Education shown in picture above...

The Northwest Alabamian highlighted us and this award in a very well written article week before last and we appreciate their recognition of this accomplishment and want to thank them for supporting Career and Technical Education and Haleyville City Schools.

It is an honor and a privilege to work with such a great school, system and community. The reason that our Center received this award is because we have a great faculty and staff not only in our school but also throughout our system. We also have a strong support base from our board of education and our community. We accepted the award on behalf of our great schools and our excellent community. We are truly blessed at Haleyville City Schools!

The CLAS application specifically highlighted project based learning activities that we have in place at the Center of Technology and our impressive Automotive Technology program headed up by Automotive Technology Instructor Mr. Mike Batchelor. It is because of people like Mike that we are successful. Thankfully, we have a lot of teachers like Mike that care about our students and their futures. I like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people that care about and go the extra mile to make Haleyville City Schools a great place to teach and learn. See the notification letter below.
