Drafting Design

 

TAKE A DRAFTING COURSE. ALL OF THE COOL PEOPLE ARE DOING IT!

Drafting Design Technology provides information for students interested in architectural, engineering, and related drafting fields.  Students develop skills using drafting instruments and gain valuable knowledge using Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) applications.  Students acquire visualization, sketching, and CAD drawing skills essential for a wide array of career opportunities in engineering manufacturing and construction areas.  Students employ higher-level thinking skills for problem solving techniques relative to Drafting Design Technology.  Emphasis is placed on mechanical, architecture, and 3-D design.  Each program is certified through the American Drafting Design Association (ADDA), a nationally recognized certifying agency.  This program allows students the flexibility of earning from one to six elective drafting credits.  Articulation programs are in place to allow students to earn postsecondary credit for courses taken at the high school level.  This course offers students educational experiences and Skills USA-VICA leadership activities that provide many opportunities to enhance classroom instruction and career development.

 

Introduction to Drafting Design (Drafting Technology I)

In Drafting Design Technology I the students are taught to demonstrate skills in mathematical concepts related to Drafting Design Technology, drafting instruments and techniques, lettering and drawing techniques, multiview drawings, basic dimensioning, fundamentals of CAD (computer-aided drafting), sectional views, auxiliary views, threads and fasteners, and pictorial views.

 

Intermediate Drafting Design (Drafting Technology II)

In Drafting Design Technology II the students are taught geometric tolerancing, auxiliary views, working drawing, intersections and developments, introduction to 3-D multi-part assembly drawings, and architectural design using AutoCad.

 

Advanced Drafting Design (Drafting Technology III)

In Drafting Design Technology III, students are taught residential floor plans, foundations, electrical plans, roof design, elevations, sectional drawings, multi-level residential floor plans, building specifications, and miscellaneous details using computer-aided drafting.

The Haleyville Center of Technology at Haleyville City Schools offers career and technical education programs to all students in our district. These programs are designed to prepare youth for a broad range of employment and further education and are offered under the guidance of certified teachers.
