DECA Students Win big, but need support!

Submitted by wbishop on Thu, 03/17/2011 - 12:43

DECA is Business/Finance/Marketing educations co-curricular student-centerd educational organization. DECA's mission is to enhance the education of students interested in marketing, management, finance and entrepreneurship. DECA'S goal is for all student members to develop a "Career Success Kit" to carry into their business and personal lives after graduation, which includes: job skills, leadership abilities and understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility and ethical values. Neina Middleton is our DECA advisor and one of our Business Marketing teachers at the Center of Technology.

This year Nelson Tidwell, Elizabeth Tyson and Shelton Sparks students at our school competed individually against students from across the state of Alabama in Montgomery at the State DECA Career Development Conference in a Business/Finance/Marketing/Management event and WON!

This was no small task; first they competed and won at the Northern District level to be eligible to compete at the state level. There win at the State DECA conference made them eligible to compete at the next level-the International Conference in Orlando, Florida. They will be a part of the 15,000 Business/Marketing students from across the United States, as well as students from Canada, Virgin Islands and Guam, vying for the title of International winner.

This trip will be very expensive and these DECA students and Mrs. Middleton need all the support they can get to attend. If you can help these students let Mrs. Middleton know by contacting the Center of Technology at 205-486-9481. Thank you!
